NYC Day Nine Friday 5th October 2012

Day 9 Friday
Decided to relax my itinerary a bit and change a few days around and wing it today as we were worn out, our colds mostly better but we were a bit run down. After a lay in we got the subway to Ess-a-bagel.
There a was long line but it went very quick, we had egg and bacon bagel, I had wanted to try an everything bagel or poppy seed but they only had plain left, they were big and we learned too late again that we should have shared, since losing the 70lb my tummy is smaller and I can't fit in what I used too, my brain and greedy nature have not got this message yet though!

We then walked across W50th Street towards the Rockefeller Center to try again to go up Top of the Rock, we got to the ticket selling shop and it was chaos, lost of people queuing and security guards get very irate and shouting at everybody that this line should not exist and we should all go buy our tickets upstairs, we followed his directions upstairs as did a few people, when we got to the place he sent us there was another very irate guard shouting at us to go back downstairs, it was all very disorganised and some other tourists got into a massive row with the staff so we decided to leave it for another day.

I had printed off a coupon for 20% off the Circle Line Cruise so we decided to do that today seeing that it was a hot sunny day. We went for the three hour long cruise that went all the way around Manhattan.

On return we used our metrocards again to get a bus to W50th as there are no subway stations near the Circle Line terminals, we got off the bus near Worldwide Plaza to go to the Box office at New World Stages, we used a discount code to get tickets for that nights performance of Avenue Q.

Then headed along W50th for our third attempt at Top of The Rock, this time the chaos was sorted out but they were booked up until 6.30pm, as we did not want to go up in the dark I bought tickets for 8am the following morning, those sorted we only had a little time to eat before Avenue Q and remembered reading on here about Restaurant Row somewhere on 9th Avenue in the 40's, this was where I missed having internet access on my phone, I could only use the free wifi in the hotel. Anyway it worked out fine, we found a Thai place with a prixe fixe menu and had a lovely meal, whilst eating we witnessed a girl open her taxi door into an oncoming cyclist and knock him off his bike, he was ok but very angry and lots of people went running over to sort them all out, not sure who was in the wrong place but he rode off in the end after a lot of shouting about impatient New Yorkers! We sat at Worldwide Plaza for a while waiting for the show and it was a lovely place to sit and people watch, Avenue Q was very good, funny and well performed. Went back to the hotel via Times Square Juniors and got a piece of Devils Food Cake Cheesecake to take back to the room for supper, one piece to share this time!
